Wheeler (June 28, 1891-Aug. 11, 1968) was born in Isabella County (Mich.). He earned a B.S. from MSU in 1914 and a M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University (1930). Wheeler joined the Central Michigan University (CMU) faculty in 1914, and later headed the Dept. of Conservation and Agriculture.
